SW Art Consulting was engaged to undertake a comprehensive collection documentation and assessment project for a private client in Melbourne. The collection, which included a significant body of fine and decorative arts, encompassed Australian and international works across various media.

Working closely with the client, our role focused on providing greater clarity, transparency of the collection through a structured and uniquely tailored approach.

Scope of Services:

• Visual documentation of works in the collection, including condition photography

• Detailed data capture, including dimensions, media, artist attributions and provenance details.

• Review of existing records and artist attributions

• Organisation and categorisation of works by medium, period, and artist

• Recommendations for further research, conservation requirements, and display or storage improvements

A secure, cloud-based digital catalogue was produced for the client, allowing for ongoing collection management, artwork tracking and planning. Where appropriate, SW Art Consulting also provided guidance around insurance valuations and future collection planning.
